It's finally finished! That took couple of years. Well, I started to draw this after I finish Blue Landscape [link] but drawing took so long I felt I can't ever get it to completed and I gave up. It was so hard to draw with pens and ruler.
This is made using vectors and This is very much smaller than the original hand drew version. For example 24 towns are removed from Northern Europe and the same way from another areas but I made this a little wider to south and east because now there is clear theme. So, the cities are from countries that are in the EU or The European Economic Area (EEA) [link] or the Schengen Area [link] .
The map is very simplified. So, there isn't space for all the main/big cities. For instance the area in Germany where's Cologne (Köln), Düsseldorf, Essen, etc I had to choose only one and I chose Cologne (Köln) because it's known of culture and history. Also I chose Manchester in instead of Liverpool because there's more population in Manchester. Small areas like Monaco and Liechtenstein are ignored and Wales was also plan to ignore but it hasn't own element in the Union Flag [link] . So, I added Cardiff for sympathy .
English city names are red colored and if the spelling isn't same in English the text is black because colored texts are easier to notice than colorless texts.
I like that the map looks like a city map and also geographical shapes are visible. I have used logic that is typical for subway maps where distance doesn't matter. For example real distance between Wien and Bratislava is shorter than between Munich and Wien but the map Is drawn a way how to make lines look simple. In some cases I've done classifications like Geneva and Nice are situated more left because those are French speaking cities.
There is two names only if the English name is different than the name in the most spoken local language. The most spoken language in Gdańsk is Polish. Well, the Polish name is Gdańsk and the English name is Gdańsk. I Knew the history and the German name, but unfortunate I didn't make this map in German. I wanted to name this map by local names, and the English names are below to help people to read.
I like this map - I can't believe I haven't seen it before!
Just a little thing though - If Palermo is named in Sicilian first, shouldn't Cardiff be in Welsh (Caerdydd) and Dublin & Cork be in Irish (Baile Áitha Cliath & Corcaigh)? Especially since Welsh and Irish have official status

I'm glad you like! Well, the names risen up are the names which are used by the majority of local people. English is the dominating language in Cardiff and Dublin.
...but - there is only metro lines - that don't exist for sure. Well, why not your house woudn't be there. I just can't see where, because there is no buildings drawn. Such a confusing dilemma.
So you took the english name, or the local name?
Because for Gdansk also exists the german name Danzig (It was german till 1945).
A line from Prag over Dresden to Frankfurt would be cool too^^
